If an external Platform Services Controller stops responding or if you want to distribute the load of an external Platform Services Controller, you can repoint the vCenter Server instances to another Platform Services Controller in the same domain and site. You can repoint the vCenter Server instance to an existing functional Platform Services Controller instance with free load capacity in the same domain and site. You can install or deploy a new Platform Services Controller instance in the same domain and site to which to repoint the vCenter Server instance.
Prerequisites. If the old Platform Services Controller instance has stopped responding, remove the node and clean up the stale vmdir data by running the cmsso-util unregister command.
For information about decommissioning a Platform Services Controller instance, see. Verify that the old and the new Platform Services Controller instances are in the same vCenter Single Sign-On domain and site by running the vdcrepadmin -f showservers command. For information about using the command, see.
If you want to repoint a vCenter Server Appliance that is configured in a vCenter HA cluster, remove the vCenter HA configuration. For information about removing a vCenter HA configuration, see vSphere Availability.
Hi All,Currently i have a virtual server with VCentre server (version 5.5) installed managing 3 Virtual Esxi hosts. This is on domain.old.local and is named old02What i am looking to do is to rename the server to new02 and then move this server to domain.new.com.I have searched online but have yet to find a solution that seems solid enough for me to dive in and get this underway.Note: new domain will be replacing old domain completly and currently resides within the same subnet so connectivity to current esxi hosts via i.p. Should not be effected.Any and all help greatfully appreciated. It can be done. You'll have to change any permissions if you have them set to use AD groups.

Moving VCenter from one Active Directory Domain to another Hi Folks, I have a working VMWare VCenter running on an AD Domain Domain.Local and I now want to remove it from that Domain and join a new Active Directory Domain I have created NewDomain.Com.Au and just need to know can I do this without having to do a re-instll and what is the best. Create or upgrade an additional vCenter Single Sign-On node for an existing high availability vCenter Single Sign-On installation. Install or Upgrade an Additional Node in an Existing High Availability vCenter Server Single Sign-On Installation. Select Join an existing Single Sign On installation.
You might also run into issues like Update manager, if that uses FQDN instead of the IP address of vcenter. I also remember having to change some xml files for some reason. I did something similar when we switched domains as the regional schools were combining into one large domain instead of many disjointed small ones. It turned into being a bigger pain that it was worth to me. In the end I uninstalled and reinstalled vcenter completely. I didn't have alot of customization set so it didn't take very long anyhow and I didn't care about logging history.
In your case, it might be better to install a second vcenter, get all the settings correct, and when it comes to switch over, just migrate the hosts one a time.
